I do not understand what possessed me to shove my Pepper Pen to Shelley just before I left the library ahead of her. I simply had this unpleasant thought she might need that much more than I might. I was leaving in advance, and together with Maggie. Shelley would have to stroll back to the dormitory, and it would probably be dark the moment she headed for home.

It was my dad who had urged I carry some defense spray when I went away to college. He mentioned this is non-lethal, and also intended totally for defensive purposes. This would immobilize an attacker almost right away soon after your spraying, but the effects are short-lived and there is absolutely no irreversible damage afterward.

I had seen a video of somebody hit by a self-defense spray. He was shouting in pain while scrubbing his eyes and face. This would be due to the occurring burning sensation. He then went into uncontrollable coughing fits which lasted for several minutes.
